Montreal Canadiens defenceman Jeff Petry is not travelling with the team and will miss at least Saturday’s contest in Nashville against the Predators due to an upper-body injury, the team announced Friday.
In a corresponding move, the Canadiens have recalled Corey Schueneman from the AHL’s Laval Rocket.
The severity of the injury and when it occurred is currently unclear. Petry played 21:01 minutes in Thursday’s loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
The 33-year-old blueliner has struggled this season with only two assists through 24 games for the 6-17-2 Canadiens. In his previous four seasons, Petry has recorded at least 40 points.
Schueneman, 26, has 7 points in 18 games with the Rocket this season and has yet to play in an NHL game.
