Kirby Dach dropped the gloves, but he didn't escape unscathed.
The Montreal Canadiens forward fought Boston Bruins defenceman Jonathan Aspirot with just over four minutes remaining in the first period of Saturday night’s game and appeared to lacerate his index finger.
Dach skated straight to the locker room afterward and was not initially on the Canadiens' bench to start the second period, but returned midway through the frame.
Per HockeyFights.com, it marked the fifth fight of his career.
The matchup with the Bruins is just Dach's 18th game of the season and his third since returning from a fractured foot on Jan. 20. The injury had sidelined him since Nov. 15.
The 25-year-old Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., native has five goals and two assists in 2025-26.
