Montreal Canadiens defenceman Mike Matheson suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday’s shootout win over the Winnipeg Jets and is listed as day to day, the team announced.

He will continue to travel with the team as it gets set for a date with the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.

Matheson has two goals and four assists through eight games this season. In 2022-23, the 29-year-old defenceman had eight goals and 26 assists in 48 games with Montreal.

He was originally selected 23rd overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2012 NHL draft.
