The Montreal Canadiens' blue line is getting healthy.
Mike Matheson will return to the lineup on Friday against the Chicago Blackhawks, per Sportsnet's Eric Engels.
The defenceman has missed the past four games with a lower-body injury. Prior to his injury, Matheson led the team in time on ice and had one assist over five games played.
Matheson has excelled since joining the Canadiens in 2022-23. He surpassed 30 points every season, including a 62-point campaign in 2023-24.
The 32-year-old will take Adam Engstrom's spot in the lineup.
Additionally, Jacob Fowler will start in net for the Habs. He's stolen the No. 1 job from Jakub Dobes, as he has a 2.16 GAA and a .900 save percentage through four starts, going 3-1-0.
