Owen Protz will soon be going pro.
The Montreal Canadiens and the defenceman agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract that begins next season, the team announced Friday.
The six-foot-one blue-liner spent last season in the OHL with the Brantford Bulldogs, appearing inn 64 games and notching five goals and 18 assists.
Protz began his OHL journey with the Sudbury Wolves, spending a season and a half with the squad before he was traded to the Bulldogs in the 2023-24 season. He reached a career high in assists (27) and points (32) in the 2024-25 season, while adding six points in 11 playoff games that year.
He currently leads the Bulldogs with 84 PIMs.
The Canadiens selected the Ottawa native in the fourth round, 102nd overall, at the 2024 NHL Draft.
