Canadiens' Petry, Evans, Merrill travelling with team to Vegas

Dominique Ducharme updated the status of Jake Evans and said the Montreal Canadiens are not taking any part of his recovery for granted, and their priority is that he is 100% before he can return to game action.

Jeff Petry, Jake Evans and Jon Merrill will travel with the Montreal Canadiens to Las Vegas ahead of the team's third-round Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Golden Knights.

Petry left Game 3 of the second-round series against the Winnipeg Jets and did not suit up for Game 4, which the Canadiens won in overtime to complete the sweep. Petry has three assists in 10 post-season games while averaging nearly 24 minutes of ice time.

Evans suffered a concussion in the final minute of Game 1 against the Jets after a scary hit from Jets forward Mark Scheifele, who was suspended four games for boarding and didn't play again in the series. Evans skated on both Friday and Saturday, and could be ready in three to four days, according to Ducharme.

Merrill hasn't suited up since May 27 when he played 9:18 in Game 5 of Montreal's first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ducharme said on May 29 that Merrill was expected to miss a week or two.

Game 1 of the semifinal series between the Canadiens and Golden Knights is Monday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and SN Now.
