The Montreal Canadiens have placed forward Jordan Weal, defenceman Noah Juulsen and seven other players on waivers, the team announced Sunday.

Defencemen Xavier Ouellet and Gustav Olofsson, forwards Brandon Baddock, Alex Belzile, Joseph Blandisi and Laurent Dauphin and goalie Charlie Lindgren were also placed on waivers.

Weal, 28, suited up for 49 games with the Canadiens last season, putting up 15 points. If he is sent down to the minors or the team's taxi squad, it would slash his salary cap hit of $1.4 million by $1.075 million, per CapFriendly.

The 23-year-old Juulsen, the Canadiens' first-round pick in the 2015 draft, has struggled through vision issues and headaches over the last two years, totalling just 37 games between the team's AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, and the Canadiens.
