David Reinbacher is has rejoined the Montreal Canadiens.
The Canadiens have recalled the defenceman from the AHL's Laval Rocket ahead of the second half of a back-to-back against the Washington Capitals but he won't play on Wednesday, the team announced.
The Canadiens are down to six defenders after Mike Matheson missed Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury that has been classified as day-to-day. Noah Dobson also missed time during Tuesday's game after getting a puck to the face but later returned to play.
The 21-year-old Reinbacher appeared in two NHL games with Montreal last April where he recorded one assist over a combined 26:17 minutes on ice.
After spending the 2026 training camp with the team, Reinbacher played in three pre-season games but didn't make the cut for the initial roster.
The Canadiens are 3-2-1 on the season and will meet the Capitals at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.
