The Montreal Canadiens are adding some depth up front.
Beck, 22, was originally selected by Montreal in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2022 draft. He's made 28 NHL appearances since then, including a career-best 15 games last season, when he recorded his first NHL goal.
The Port Hope, Ont. native began this year with Laval, and has posted one assist and a plus-one rating through four appearances. He also spent most of the 2025-26 campaign with the Rocket, when he racked up 13 goals and 20 assists through 58 games.
He now joins a Canadiens team that's looking to build some momentum when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Montreal is coming of its second win of the early season, beating the Detroit Red Wings in a shootout on Saturday to snap a three-game skid.
As for Beck's addition to the roster, it appears to be an insurance move. Winger Florian Xhekaj is still considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury after missing Saturday's win over the Red Wings. Meanwhile, centre Oliver Kapanen remains on injured reserve.
