Canadiens sign defenceman William Trudeau to one-year, two-way deal

The Montreal Canadiens signed defenceman William Trudeau to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced on Thursday.

The 22-year-old blue-liner was selected by Montreal in the fourth round of the 2021 draft. Trudeau registered five goals and 14 assists in 68 games for the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League last season.

In three seasons with Laval, the left-shot defenceman has 70 points (20 goals, 50 assists) in 198 games.
