Canadiens submit qualifying offers to five restricted free agents

While Max Domi’s father Tie was an undeniable fan favourite in Toronto, it was Mats Sundin who was Max’s hockey idol. Max and Mats connect to talk about wearing No. 13 in honour, the influence Mats had on him, and their journeys to the NHL.

The Montreal Canadiens have submitted qualifying offers to forwards Max Domi and Charles Hudon, and defencemen Noah Juulsen, Victor Mete and Xavier Ouellet.

The submission of these offers means the Canadiens have the right of first refusal to match any offer sheets from competing teams and officially retain negotiating rights.

NHL teams have until 5 p.m. ET on Oct. 7 to submit qualifying offers to restricted free agents, and these qualifying offers can be signed by RFAs once free agency opens at 12 p.m. ET on Oct. 9. Qualifying offers expire on Oct. 18.

The Canadiens also announced that three restricted free agents – Aaron Luchuk, Andrew Sturtz and Antoine Waked – were not tendered offers, and therefore will become unrestricted free agents.
