The Montreal Canadiens are turning the next back over to Jakub Dobes this week.
Dobes will get the start when the Canadiens host the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, head coach Martin St. Louis announced Monday.
Samuel Montembault started the last two games for the Canadiens, both losses, including Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Boston Bruins, in which the Bruins tied the game and took the lead with two goals 12 seconds apart late in the third period.
While no one in the Canadiens room laid blame on Montembault for the loss, the mood was certainly down after dropping two points to a division rival.
“It doesn’t feel great at all,” said Canadiens forward Cole Caufield, who had a hat trick against the Bruins. “This game happens quick and these moments are huge, and these are the moments you look back on and you hope it doesn’t bite you in the ass.”
Montembault has just nine wins in 20 starts this season and his .868 save percentage is 65th out of the 69 goalies who have made at least 10 appearances this season. Dobes hasn't been much better, with a .887 save percentage that is 50th in the league, but he is 4-0-1 in his last five starts.
