Montreal Canadiens winger Tyler Toffoli is expected to be out of the lineup for eight weeks after undergoing hand surgery on Wednesday, the team announced Saturday.

Toffoli last played on Dec. 4 in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators in which he registered two assists. The team recalled forward Laurent Dauphin from the AHL's Laval Rocket as a replacement earlier this week.

In 26 games this season, Toffoli has five goals and 17 points -- one point behind Nick Suzuki for the lead in team scoring.
