The Vancouver Canucks have added a young forward to their prospect pool.
Vancouver acquired forward Ilya Safonov from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for future considerations, the team announced Saturday.
Safonov, 24, played in the KHL last season with Ak Bars Kazan. He appeared in 51 games and recorded seven goals and 15 assists.
In 263 career games in the KHL, all with Ak Bars Kazan, the Russian forward has 49 goals and 46 assists.
Safonov was selected by the Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
