The Vancouver Canucks have hired former Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon as a senior adviser and professional scout, the team announced Friday.
Tallon was most recently GM of the Panthers from 2010 to '20. He added the president of hockey operations title from 2017 to '20.
The former NHL defenceman made history in 1970 as the Canucks' first-ever selection at an NHL Draft.
Tallon won a Stanley Cup in his final season in Chicago when he was senior adviser in 2010.
The Canucks also announced Ryan Johnson has been promoted to assistant to the general manager and will retain his role as GM of the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks.
Scott Young will act as director of player personnel, while Frank Golden joins as college free agent scout and Dylan Crawford has been named video coach.
"We're pleased to have solidified our Hockey Operations department for next season with the promotion of Ryan Johnson and the additions of Scott Young, Frank Golden, Dylan Crawford and Dale Tallon," said Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin. "These individuals bring immense experience and are committed to the vision we have in building the Vancouver Canucks to be a winning franchise."
Allvin joined the Canucks as GM in January after spending the past 16 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
