The rebuilding Vancouver Canucks could be looking to add to their forward group.
The Canucks are among the teams that are interested in Calgary Flames centre Connor Zary, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Saturday Headlines.
"I do think Vancouver is one of the teams that has looked at Zary," Friedman said. "I think there's a few more, obviously, but I've heard the Canucks are one of the teams that are considering it, and it makes sense."
Friedman added that while nothing is imminent, the Flames aren't looking to retain any salary in a potential trade.
The Canucks would be able to take on his full $3.775 million cap hit without any salary retention, as they currently have nearly $16 million in projected cap space.
Zary was placed on waivers by the Flames on Monday, and, upon clearing, made his return to the AHL's Wranglers, where he scored a goal in his first game on Friday.
Zary, 25, is in the second year of a three-year deal worth $11.325 million.
The 2020 first-round pick (24th overall) had 12 goals and 13 assists in 74 games last season, his third full year with the NHL club.
