Despite being waived on Tuesday, Arshdeep Bains will be staying in the Vancouver Canucks' organization.
Bains was assigned to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks on Wednesday after clearing waivers.
The 24-year-old has played in 26 games for Vancouver this season, recording just one goal and four assists, and struggled to find consistent playing time, averaging just over nine minutes a night.
The Surrey, B.C. native has spent the majority of his professional career with Abbotsford, winning the Calder Cup last season.
Bains ranks second all-time in points for the AHL franchise with 136 points in 175 games, and will look to bring a much-needed boost to a team that currently sits dead last in the Pacific Division with just six wins in 26 games.
