Filip Chytil just can never seem to catch a break.
The Vancouver Canucks forward exited Thursday's pre-season contest against the Edmonton Oilers after an awkward collision.
Chytil got tripped up by an official and went shoulder-first into the boards during the first period. He was visibly in discomfort and eventually went back to the locker room, not returning for the start of the second period.
The Canucks later announced he was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
“It’s never good to see a guy leave a game," said head coach Manny Malhotra post-game. "We’re having his shoulder looked at, and we’ll know more tomorrow."
Chytil, 27, has played in just 78 of a possible 246 regular-season games over the past three campaigns. He has been significantly affected by concussions and upper-body injuries.
Chytil's last mostly healthy season came in 2022-23. He put up 22 goals and 23 assists for 45 points in 74 games for the New York Rangers.
