Already without star forward Elias Pettersson, the Vancouver Canucks were dealt another key blow Monday night as captain Bo Horvat was forced out of the team’s game against the Winnipeg Jets with a foot injury.
Early in the third period of the tilt, Horvat, while screening the Jets netminder, took a slapshot from teammate Alexander Edler off his foot. The centreman struggled to get back to the bench — helped along by a pair of Jets players as he passed their bench — before eventually falling while making his way down the tunnel. He didn’t return to the game.
With the Canucks already dealing with key injuries, Horvat’s play has been crucial to their recent run of success. The captain has put up 10 points over his past nine games while the club’s won seven of those.
