Vancouver Canucks right winger Ilya Mikheyev has a lower-body injury and is week-to-week, the team announced Tuesday.

Mikheyev was hit awkwardly into the boards in the first pre-season game against the Calgary Flames, and did not return to the game.

The team will be without two top-nine forwards to start the season as Brock Boeser will also be out, rehabbing a hand injury which required surgery.

The 27-year-old Mikheyev, who scored 21 goals and 11 assists in 53 games last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, signed a four-year, $19 million contract with the Canucks in free agency.
