Pierre-Olivier Joseph's night ended early against the Dallas Stars.
The Vancouver Canucks defenceman left Tuesday's game early in the third period, with the team later announcing he would not return.
Joseph's last shift in the game came less than three minutes into the final frame.
The 26-year-old Laval, Que., native has one goal and four assists in 23 games this season, his first with the Canucks after signing as a free agent in July.
He finished the night having recorded 10:36 of ice time over 14 shifts and was a minus-one.
"I think he was getting some X-rays while we were playing at the end there, so we'll see what's gone on with the upper body," said Canucks head coach Adam Foote post-game.
The Canucks fell 6-1 to the Stars.
