Canucks' MacEwen to have hearing for kneeing Oilers' Nurse

Watch Vancouver Canucks' Zack MacEwen and Edmonton Oilers' Darnell Nurse exchange fists in the 3rd period.

Vancouver Canucks forward Zack MacEwen will have a hearing with the NHL's department of player safety on Friday for kneeing Edmonton Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse.

The play in question took place at 10:59 of the second period of Thursday's 6-3 Vancouver win when, after taking a penalty for high-sticking Nurse, MacEwen appeared to knee the Edmonton blue-liner as he lay on the ice.

Nurse was assessed a two-minute penalty later in the period for slashing MacEwen, and the two also fought early in the third frame.

MacEwen, 24, has a goal and two points in 29 games for the Canucks this season to go along with 40 penalty minutes.
