Elias Pettersson faced some criticism for his production in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the Vancouver Canucks star certainly didn't shy away from playing through pain on Monday.
Near the end of the first period of Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers, Pettersson was cut by a high stick from Ryan McLeod, resulting in a four-minute minor.
Per Patrick Johnston of Postmedia, Pettersson said after the game he needed five jabs of freezing before being sewed back up in the first intermission.
Johnston said Pettersson had stitches inside and outside his lip.
Pettersson was held off the scoreboard as the Canucks lost 3-2 to the visiting Oilers in the winner-take-all showdown to end Round 2.
The Swedish forward finished with one goal and five assists in 13 playoff games after putting up 34 goals and 55 assists for 89 points in 82 regular-season games.
