Filip Chytil will miss the start of the regular season.
The Vancouver Canucks placed the forward on the IR on Friday with a shoulder injury, the team announced.
Chytil suffered the injury after an awkward collision in Thursday's pre-season loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
“As nasty as that looked, he came down on the shoulder, and it’s more of a muscular strain,” general manager Ryan Johnson told reporters.
Per Johnson, Chytil is expected to be week-to-week.
He got tripped up by an official and went shoulder-first into the boards during the first period. He was visibly in discomfort and eventually went back to the locker room, did not return for the start of the second period and was ruled out.
The 27-year-old has played in just 78 of a possible 246 regular-season games over the past three campaigns. He has been significantly affected by concussions and upper-body injuries.
Chytil's last mostly healthy season came in 2022-23. He put up 22 goals and 23 assists for 45 points in 74 games for the New York Rangers.
