The Vancouver Canucks will start Jaroslav Halak in net in the second half of a back-to-back as they take on the visiting Ottawa Senators on Tuesday, coach Bruce Boudreau said.
Top goalie Thatcher Demko played Monday in Vancouver's critical 6-2 win over the Dallas Stars.
Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau said the decision by the Nashville Predators to play Juuse Sarros in back-to-back games swayed his call.
The Predators beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 on Saturday before losing 8-3 to the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.
Halak's last game was April 7 when the Canucks beat the Arizona Coyotes 5-1 in the second half of a back to back.
Halak is 4-7-2 with a 3.01 goals-against average and .899 save percentage this season.
Meanwhile, Boudreau said forward Alex Chiasson (non-COVID illness) is a game-time decision. He was a late scratch on Monday.
The surging Canucks have won six in a row. They are four points behind the Los Angeles Kings for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division and five behind Dallas and the Nashville Predators for the two wild-card spots.
