The Washington Capitals have added some depth in net.
Goaltender Remi Poirier was traded by the New Jersey Devils to Washington in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2027, both teams announced on Sunday.
Poirier has played in 137 American Hockey League games, sporting a 2.76 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.
The 25-year-old was originally selected in the sixth round of the 2020 draft by the Dallas Stars. New Jersey claimed the netminder off waivers on Sept. 27.
Last season with the Texas Stars of the AHL, Poirier posted a 2.61 GAA and .912 save percentage in 52 games.
