Capitals' Dmitry Orlov suspended two games for kneeing Jets' Nikolaj Ehlers

Nikolaj Ehlers left the game after an awkward, knee-on-knee collision with Dmitry Orlov.

Washington Capitals defenceman Dmitry Orlov has been suspended for two games for kneeing Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers.

The incident took place late in the third period during Tuesday's game in Washington. No penalty was called on the play.

Ehlers, who is tied for third on the Jets in scoring with 25 points, had to be helped off the ice.

"I'm disappointed," Jets interim head coach Dave Lowry said after the game. "When you lose a player, you're disappointed. We have the luxury of replay. It's a fast game. The four of them didn't see it the same way we saw it."

Lowry said Ehlers likely will miss more than one game.

Orlov scored a goal in the second period and assisted on Tom Wilson's overtime winner as the Capitals defeated the Jets 4-3.
