Netminder Vitek Vanecek is returning to the Washington Capitals after a brief tenure with the Seattle Kraken.

Nabbed by the NHL's newest club in the expansion draft, Vanecek has been traded back to Washington by Seattle, with the Kraken receiving a 2023 second-round pick in return.

Vanecek, 25, suited up for 37 games with the Capitals last season, his first in the big leagues. He posted a .908 save percentage and 2.69 goals-against average in that span.
