The Washington Capitals have signed defenceman Justin Schultz to a two-year, $8-million contract, the team announced on Friday.

Schultz, 30, spent the past five years in Pittsburgh, twice winning the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh. His new deal with Washington sees him take a bit of a pay cut after his $5.5-million cap hit earned with the Penguins the past few years. Schultz is the second defenceman signed this week, after the Capitals re-signed rental Brenden Dillon.
