Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov will be a healthy scratch for Monday's game against the Arizona Coyotes, head coach Spencer Carbery announced.
Carbery called it a "mental reset" for Kuznetsov, according to the Washington Post's Bailey Johnson.
The decision comes just days after Kuznetsov's demotion to the fourth line.
The centre played a season-low 15:20 in the Capitals' latest game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday and has produced just one point in the last six contests.
Kuznetsov has scored four goals and recorded five assists with a minus-five rating in 19 appearances during the 2023-24 season.
The 31-year-old has 560 points (169 goals and 391 assists) in 699 games over 11 seasons with the Capitals.
