The Washington Capitals have re-signed centre Nic Dowd to a three-year contract carrying an average annual value of $1.3 million.

Dowd, 31, has one goal through nine games with the Capitals this season. Last season, he scored a career-high 11 goals in 56 games. The Huntsville, AL., native has recorded 79 points in 316 career NHL games.
The 2009 seventh-round pick is currently on the final year of a three-year, $2.25 million deal he signed in 2019. His extension will kick in for the 2022-23 season.
