Capitals re-sign defenceman Jonas Siegenthaler to one-year, $800K deal

The Washington Capitals have re-signed defenceman Jonas Siegenthaler to a one-year, $800,000 contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The 23-year-old notched nine points in a career-high 63 games last season, ranking second on the team in blocked shots (105). He split the 2018-19 season between the Capitals and their farm team, the Hershey Bears, notching four points in 26 games for the big club and six points in 34 AHL games.

The product of Zurich, Switzerland was selected by Washington in the second round (57th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
