A different look is coming to the Eastern Conference this season.
The Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings each unveiled new jerseys on Monday.
In Washington, a red sweater prominently featuring the team's screaming eagle logo will serve as the team's alternate for the next three seasons while making 15 appearances during 2025-26 home games.
It also has nods to D.C., Virginia and Maryland with red, white and blue sleeve stripes in addition to three stars on the pants.
In Detroit, the team's classic red-and-white colour scheme gets a throwback look with nods to a 'Cougar D' crest — the team's inaugural Detroit Cougars logo — and numbers that throw back to the 1926-27 season.
The iconic winged wheel is plastered on the front of the sweater, marking the Red Wings' centennial season.
