The Washington Capitals have signed defenceman Paul LaDue to a one-year, $700,000 contract, the team announced Saturday.

The 28-year-old native of Grand Forks, N.D., notched an assist in a pair of appearances with the Los Angeles Kings last season, and put up 27 points across 48 games with the club's AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.

In 2018-19, LaDue collected five points in 33 games with the Kings. He has 18 points in 69 career NHL games.

He was selected by Los Angeles in the sixth round (181st overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
