Capitals sign F Aube-Kubel to one-year, $1.225M extension

The Washington Capitals have signed winger Nicolas Aube-Kubel to a one-year, $1.225-million extension, the club announced Friday.

The Capitals claimed Aube-Kubel off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs in November. He signed a one-year, $1-million deal with the Leafs last summer after previously playing for the Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche.

Aube-Kubel has two goals and six assists in 36 combined games with the Capitals and Maple Leafs this season.

The 26-year-old Aube-Kubel has 23 goals and 35 assists for 58 points in 205 career NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers, Avalanche, Leafs and Capitals.
