After acquiring him in a trade earlier in June, the Washington Capitals re-signed forward Justin Sourdif to a two-year, $1.65 million contract, the team announced Saturday.
Sourdif was acquired Thursday in a trade with the Florida Panthers, with a 2026 second-rounder and a 2027 sixth-rounder heading back the other way.
The 23-year-old spent the 2024–25 season with Florida's AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, recording 34 points (16 goals and 18 assists) in 43 regular-season games.
He added 10 points (four goals and six assists) in 18 playoff appearances as the Checkers advanced to the Calder Cup Final, where they fell to the Abbotsford Canucks in six games.
Across 149 career AHL games, Sourdif has totalled 96 points (35 goals and 61 assists).
The Richmond, B.C., native has also appeared in four NHL games to date, including one this past season in which he scored his first NHL goal.
Sourdif was selected by the Panthers in the third round (87th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
