The Washington Capitals signed goaltender Charlie Lindgren to a three-year, $3.3 million contract on Wednesday.

In a full goalie shuffle, the Caps have brought on Lindgren to back up new starter Darcy Kuemper, who also signed in the U.S. capital on the first day of free agency.

Lindgren split the 2021-22 season between the St. Louis Blues and AHL affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds. He had a perfect 5-0-0 record with the Blues with a 1.22 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage.

With the Thunderbirds, Lindgren had a 2.21 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage in 34 games. He also helped his team reach the 2022 Calder Cup Final.
