The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed goaltender Zach Sawchenko to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000, the team announced on Sunday.
The six-foot-one, 26-year-old suited up for the Vancouver Canucks' AHL affiliate in Abbotsford during the 2023-2024 season. There, he appeared in six games, winning four of them while posting a .924 save percentage alongside a 2.12 goals-against average.
This past season marks the fifth year of professional hockey for the Calgary native. Originally undrafted out of the University of Alberta, he spent his first three seasons within the San Jose Sharks organization. Amidst the 2021-2022 season, Sawchenko made his NHL debut with the Sharks and went on to appear in seven NHL games total.
