Defenceman Nils Lundkvist is staying in Dallas.
General manager Jim Nill announced Friday that they have signed Lundkvist to a one-year contract extension with a $1.25 million average annual value.
The 24-year-old Swede played 39 games with the Dallas Stars, recording five points in the 2024-25 season . His campaign ended early due to a shoulder injury resulting in surgery.
The right-shot defenceman has played 183 NHL between the Dallas Stars and the New York Rangers. Lundkvist has nine goals, 35 assists and 44 points in his NHL career. He also has a plus 16 rating through his four seasons with both teams.
"Nils brings a unique combination of offensive ability and defensive reliability to our lineup," Nill said. "His puck-moving skills, vision, and hockey sense are assets that elevate our game in transition. We're thrilled to have him back and excited to see how he continues to grow and contribute to our success."
Lunkvist was acquired by the Stars on Sept. 19, 2022 for a first-round pick in the 2023 Draft and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2025.
