The New Jersey Devils will be without their top rookie for the rest of the season.
Forward Arseny Gritsyuk will undergo surgery and won't return to action, the Devils announced on Thursday.
Gritsyuk suffered an upper-body injury on March 24 against the Dallas Stars and has not played since.
The 25-year-old Russian had been enjoying a strong debut season, with 13 goals and 18 assists over 66 games.
New Jersey, however, is headed toward a second straight playoff miss, sitting 10 points out of a wild-card spot with just eight games remaining.
