The New Jersey Devils have signed forward Ryan Schmelzer to a two-year, two-way contract, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal carries a $775,000 AAV at the NHL level.
It's the first NHL contract for Schmelzer, who has spent the past six seasons with the Devils' farm teams in Binghamton and Utica.
The 30-year-old from Buffalo appeared in 72 games with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League this season recording 18 goals and 52 points in 72 games.
