Jacob Markstrom is sticking around New Jersey.
The Devils have agreed to a two-year extension with the netminder with an average annual value of $6 million, the team announced Friday.
He returned to action Tuesday in an 8-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche following a two-week absence with a lower-body injury.
Markstrom was acquired from the Calgary Flames in June of 2024 in exchange for a first-round pick in 2025 (Cole Reschny) and defenceman Kevin Bahl.
The 35-year-old has posted two wins with an .830 save percentage in four appearances so far this season. Since joining the Devils, he is 28-18 with four shutouts in 53 games.
He has a career record of 243-214-63 since making his NHL debut with Florida in Jan. 2011 after he was selected 31st overall by the Panthers in 2008.
A native of Gavle, Sweden, he was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of season.
