The New Jersey Devils have signed defenceman Simon Nemec to a three-year, entry-level contract worth $950,000 per season on Thursday.
Nemec was the second overall selection in the 2022 NHL Draft. He followed his country-mate Juraj Slafkovsky making it the first time two Slovakians got picked first and second overall.
The 18-year-old spent last season in the Slovakian Extraliga with HK Nitra where he picked up one goal and 25 assists in 39 games.
Nemec then added 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 19 playoff games on their way to the Extraliga final.
