Goaltender Devon Levi is going to get a longer opportunity to see if he can stick in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres.
The restricted free agent has signed a two-year, $1.625-million extension with the Sabres, the team said Thursday. The average annual value is $812,500.
Levi, 23, has split the last two years between Buffalo and AHL Rochester after going 5-2 at the end of the 2022-23 season with the Sabres following his time at Northeastern University.
The six-foot Levi has a 3.29 goals-against average and .894 save percentage in 39 career games with the Sabres.
Levi finished last season with Rochester, after the Sabres eventually stuck with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and James Reimer in net en route to their 14th consecutive season out of the playoffs.
The native of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que., was a two-time winner of the Mike Richter Award as the top NCAA goaltender.
