The Vancouver Canucks could be facing even more trouble.
Forward Kiefer Sherwood is day-to-day and will miss Monday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens, head coach Adam Foote told reporters at Monday's morning skate.
"He's trying to go through something and my gut says it could be a week to three weeks probably so it doesn't look promising," Foote said.
It is unclear when the injury occurred.
Sherwood has been a bright spot on the Canucks this year with 17 goals and six assists in 44 games. He has also delivered the second-most hits of any player in the league with 210.
Meanwhile, goalie Thatcher Demko is still being evaluated and the team is hopeful for good news regarding his return from injury, Foote said. There are no expectations on timeline yet, but the team is hoping to know more after he meets with a doctor in a few days.
"He's got a couple of things going on," Foote said. "He's been dealing with it all year."
Demko was placed on injured reserve on Sunday after he left a 5-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs with a lower-body injury.
Also, centre Marco Rossi remains two to three weeks away from a return, Foote said, after he suffered a lower-body injury blocking a shot against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Rossi was one of three players acquired in the Quinn Hughes trade with the Minnesota Wild. The 24-year-old had 13 points in 17 games with the Wild but has recorded only two points in eight games with the Canucks.
