Anaheim Ducks centre Ryan Getzlaf has been fined $1,000 for a dangerous trip on Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced on Sunday.

The incident happened at 1:33 of overtime when the two teams tangled Oct. 23. A penalty was not issued on the play. The Wild won the game, 4-3, on a Ryan Hartman goal with 13 seconds left.

Getzlaf, 36, signed a one-year deal with Anaheim before the season worth $4.5 million. The Regina, Saskatchewan, native has no goals and four assists in six games this season.

The money collected in the fine will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
