The Anaheim Ducks are down two forwards.
Cutter Gauthier exited Saturday's game against the Calgary Flames with an upper-body injury and will not return, the team announced.
Gauthier exited in the first period, but it is unclear when he may have suffered the injury.
The 22-year-old had been off to a hot start for the Ducks, with two goals and two assists in four games to start the season. He came into the year having signed a brand-new contract that offers him a massive raise, putting pen to paper on a six-year, $81 million deal in September.
Adding insult to injury for the Ducks, depth forward Ryan Poehling was forced to exit in the third period after colliding with the Flames' goal post.
Poehling had just scored on a short-handed rush when he lost control, leading to a rough collision with the post and goalie Dustin Wolf.
The 27-year-old was down in pain for quite some time before he left the ice with assistance from teammates and trainers. He did not appear to be putting any weight on his right leg.
The goal on which Poehling was injured was his first of the season. In 362 career games with the Ducks, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, he has 55 goals and 132 points.
