The Anaheim Ducks have lost their top scorer.
Cutter Gauthier was ruled out of Monday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs after the first period with an upper-body injury, the team said.
Gauthier didn't see the ice after scoring his 38th of goal of the season at 9:46 of the first period. He was cross-checked just before scoring by Leafs defenceman Jake McCabe.
"He has an upper-body injury, we'll see how he is tomorrow and get a better read on it," head coach Joel Quenneville said after the Maple Leafs beat the Ducks 5-4 in overtime.
The second-year winger has 38 goals and 27 assists in 73 games this season for the Pacific Division-leading Ducks.
