The Anaheim Ducks have lost a key free-agent addition.
Forward A.J. Greer was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury on Monday, one day after absorbing a high hit from Ottawa Senators forward Dylan Cozens.
Cozens was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the hit that occurred during the third period of a 6-3 Ducks win.
Greer stayed down on the ice for some moments before getting up and attempting to confront Cozens.
The 29-year-old, who signed a four-year, $17-million free-agent contract with the Ducks in the off-season, has four goals, two assists and 30 penalty minutes in 13 games with his new team.
Anaheim recalled forward Nico Myatovic from the AHL to take Greer's roster spot.
Cozens, 25, came into the game with four goals and 10 points in 15 games and started the Senators' road trip with three goals and five points in three games.
No supplemental discipline had been issued for the play as of this story's publish time.
