After losing seven of their last nine games, the Anaheim Ducks have taken yet another blow.
Right winger Frank Vatrano will be out six weeks after suffering a fractured shoulder in Saturday’s 6-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, the Ducks announced Wednesday.
The 31-year-old sustained the injury after losing his footing and awkwardly falling into the boards. He immediately left the game and did not return.
Vatrano is in the first season of a three-year, $13.71 million contract.
The East Longmeadow, Mass., native is in his 11th NHL season and fourth with the Ducks. He is having a down year compared to previous seasons, recording just three goals and three assists in 38 games.
Vatrano has scored at least 20 goals in each of his first three seasons with Anaheim, but has only one goal in his past 24 games.
In 683 career games with the Ducks, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins, Vatrano has 184 goals and 138 assists.
